High-performance chemical reactivity and easy handling have made dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) based catalysts widely used in the production of polyurethane resins used as materials for high-weatherability coatings. However, due to the designation of dibutyltin dichloride as a substance of very high concern under the European REACH regulation, there has been a demand for tin-free alternatives. Borchers' "tin-free catalysts" can accommodate regulations on organic tin and are designed with environmental considerations in mind, free of tin.
